The Affordable Care as a Cause of Death

Download PDF Version

The Affordable Care was passed in 2010. It took the law a few years to become fully implemented. Lifespans of Americans began declining in 2014 and continue declining today. Count on this trend to continue into the future.

Declining lifespans are explained away as being due to things like suicides and drug overdoses. These are what might be described as up line causes and are in no way root causes. The cause of decreasing lifespans is the structure of the healthcare market in the United States.  With the advent of the Affordable Care Act, personalized medicine has disappeared. What we have instead is mass market medicine. Mass market medicine is the child of lobbyist inspired legislation designed to increase the portion of GDP that is devoted to healthcare. It is also filled with skimming operations that enrich the insurance industry, pharmaceutical industry and to a lesser degree providers.

The level of genuine healthcare in the United States is severely diminished and as a result lifespans are declining. It will get much worse. It is impossible that the trend will reverse as long as this bill is law of the land. Citizens are not concerned enough to complain, so the bill is not likely to be repealed.

What about Medicare for all? That will not be any better and will probably be worse. There is no way to provide quality healthcare and feed the insurance and pharmaceutical industries at the same time. In today’s world, all legislation is for profit. The Affordable Care Act is on the books for the purpose of enriching the parties which hired the lobbyists to make sure the bill was passed. The same parties with massive political power will also write the provisions of any Medicare for al bill. Citizens will end up serving a government run healthcare system, just as they are doing now under the Affordable Care Act.

Does it have to be this way? No it doesn’t. However as long as American’s believe that this type of bill is passed for their benefit, nothing will change. American’s believe that having health insurance constitutes having healthcare. No one is getting genuine health insurance. What they are getting is life management and herding. Does anyone mind? Is anyone aware? It is easy to exploit folks who are unreasonably trusting and who wish for others to think for them.

What would constitute real government healthcare for American citizens?  There are many services provided by government that are not skimming operations disguised as benefits.  How often do you hear complaints about the costs of fire departments or road construction? There are no automatic skimming operations packed into the legislation that provides these types of things.

Any decent health care bill would have to eliminate all skimming operations in order to be of value.  In any country the majority has a clear right to insist that government guaranty access to quality healthcare for everyone. Free market healthcare would provide the optimum net level healthcare, but that idea has already been rejected. Free markets, despite their overwhelming benefits, are not trusted. With these thing people are prone to opt for collective solutions. A society can only do what the majority agree to do.

I am citing a system that provides an outcome very close to the optimum a free market system would provide while providing full benefits to all who have no means to pay.

1.) Give everyone in the country a plastic healthcare card that can be used to pay for all healthcare, healthcare products and related services.

2.) Providers are never advised as to the financial well being of patients.

3.) Doctors don’t know who pays and who doesn’t so price competition would be present.

4.) Low income payers could be subsidized. A maximum healthcare expense would be possible.

5.) Those who can’t pay get a statement showing services provided but no balance due.

6.) All who pay, would pay far less than the insurance premiums they are now paying now.

7.) Those who are in the class that now pays lobbyists to write legislation for profit would pay their entire healthcare expense.

There is no such thing as free healthcare. Enslaving doctors is not a reasonable solution. Having all doctors work for the government is not a solution. There is no one in the United States who is getting free healthcare. They never will. Even citizens in countries deemed as democratic socialist, pay for healthcare. There are many ways for a service to be provided but free is not possible.

What I just described is a very efficient way for a government to guarantee quality healthcare for everyone.  The key is to eliminate the skimming operations packed into these types of bills.  Also, a decent healthcare bill needs to be inspired and written by ordinary citizens.

I have made a point of making it known that I use traditional technical analysis only or the purpose of identifying stocks in established downtrends. I am currently short 56 stocks which are listed below. This list changes over time because I regularly replace the strongest of these stocks with issues that show greater. Timing does not play a role in this system. The world is in such a sorry predicament that there is no class of assets that has much of a chance of increasing in value of even holding value. The solution is to practice what amounts to the opposite of ownership. That is selling everything one owns and then selling what one doesn’t own.
In today’s market, traditional technical analysis is useless. Back in the early days of trading, very few traders studied charts. Those who did were studying the behavior of the majority who were using traditional methods such as fundamental analysis. Long term investors were a large part of the market. Today, traders who relying technical analysis have no chance because they are part of the group think and are simply studying themselves.
Further, technical analysis was developed to for use in democratic markets. Today’s market is corrupted by constant government intervention, organized crime and well connected proprietary trading firms, the rules of traditional technical analysis only work accidently occasionally.
The chart below is of the Standard & Poors 500 Index. According to traditional technical analysis the blue lines represent support and resistance. Logically, one would buy if the red line on top was broken and sell if the redline on the bottom was broken.

In the old days, that line of reasoning worked pretty good. Today, if you are using traditional chart analysis, you are not gaming anyone. It is more likely you are being gamed by others who have figured out your reasoning. There is probably an algorithm being used to sell when people think they are doing the smart thing by buying on a price break out and buying when the same people get stopped out when the trade goes in the wrong direction. For chart analysis to work, you have to be part of the minority, gaming the behavior of the majority.
The reasoning behind managing a portfolio of already weak stock is based on a few simple realities. The most important of these is the fact that corrupt markets destroy themselves. The bottom will in fact fall out of the stock market. Stocks which are in their own private bear markets will probably continue to decline anyway, ahead of the eventual bear market.

`Understanding The Impeachment Effort

The reason for the impeachment effort is to protect the cash cows all in power have acquired over the years through the use of government and politics. Self interest is conveniently deemed not present in the public sector. Self interest manifests in the public sector faster and more efficiently in the public sector. In a free market system, self interest is balanced. There are buyers and sellers and they trade when their self interest’s are balanced. So, there goes the stress. Free people agree. Goodwill is a huge bi-product. There is a sense of peace.

Self interests works a little different in government. There are no customers. So, there is no way self interest can be balanced. There is voting but public opinion is easily managed and homogenized.  With government, self interest expands without bounds. It mutates and continues to expand. Symbiotic self interests develop and there are multi partner self interest effort partnerships. That all of these self interest situations might be displaced is the issue. There is nothing about impeaching the president will do any good at all for the overall country. There is not much good going to come from refraining to impeach the president either. The public will gain nothing either way.

Donald Trump is not a free market guy. He is a fascist style socialist just as are hid opponents. He will replace the enriched opportunists with opportunists of his own choosing. The public will continue to be exploited just as they are being exploited presently and always have been.  As long as voters view their leaders as messiahs instead of seeing them for what they are, they will all be donors to the upper class which controls government. Fascist style socialism is largely deemed the same as free market.

Some anticipate that the public will snap to reality as soon as a crisis hits. Don’t count on it. Fantasy is powerful. People will die before giving up fantasy. Fantasy completely eclipses reality.

World Domination and the Stock Market

Throughout history, when power has become concentrated, the strongest people have always made attempts to take over the world and run it the way they see fit. There has never been an announcement such as “High, I am leader X. Now I am going to take over the world and make you and everyone else a servant to me. Is everybody ready? On your mark get set go. Here I come resist me if you wish.” There was Rome, the Ottoman Empire, Spain, Britain. Germany and now some say the United States. Does anyone doubt that there are ongoing aspirations to take over the world and make use of all of its citizens?

The effort is being made, but not by a certain nation or even a group of nations. Corporate leaders bankers and others have now figured out how to permanently subordinate the world’s population and use social engineering to keep them working in their behalf. Currently there is no nation expressly trying to take over the world. The militaries of the world now fight on behalf of the world’s richest citizens. In a sense we already do have a world government. We are all governed by elite business interests.

What is the quickest way to gain control of mankind’s time and energy? Control the sources of their essence.  We are talking about human herding in its highest degree. Controlling the stock market and the financial markets is their ticket. Determine how much money everyone makes and folks will permanently be eating out of the hands of the world’s wealthiest members.

Few have figured this out. I say why wait forty years for histories answers to emerge? Here is the plan and it has been going on for more than one decade. Use public money which is basically free to its recipients to concentrate stock ownership among a smaller and smaller group of wealthy interests. These are interests who are complicit in managing the time and resources of as many people throughout the world as is possible. This is a process of continuously moving equity ownership from weak hands into strong hands.

The plan is not only to move the stock market higher. It is more important to change the entire structure of the financial markets. To the degree the plan succeeds it will then be possible to dictate the direction of the stock market with more ease than with the current system. With most stock in the hands of citizens who will never sell, stock prices can be moved higher with earnings, without earnings, with losses or under any circumstance.

Please understand that this effort will end in a catastrophe. That doesn’t mean it won’t be continued. Other attempts to take over the world have all failed eventually. As a motivating force, looking for ways to live off the efforts of others, is actually stronger stronger and more basic than is the propensity to go out to work as an individual. As long as there is a viable chance to enslave the world’s general population the effort will continue. This time it is not a certain nation but a consortium of business interests instead.  As far as efforts to dominate the world are concerned, this one is a  twist. It is taking folks a long time to figure out what is happening to them.

The Good News Economy and Stock Market of Course

Moving into the fall season, all countries, world leaders and elected leaders in the United States, have the same focus. That is to keep asset prices, mainly U.S. equities, from falling. Every incumbent running for re-election in November benefits from a strong stock market. No effort will be spared in supporting the financial markets through early November. Expect nothing but good good news for the next few weeks.

The link below is an article from earlier this month. The quotes below are from the article.

Good News is Coming Soon (from 8-14-2008)

“Very close to Labor Day, September 3, five days before or after, good game changing news will hit the press and the airways. What kind of good news?”

“Odds are the trade war will be called off.”

When I make a forecast like this, I never expect to be 100% right. The only criteria I have is of knowing the incentives of the various players and observations of previous behaviors. There is no clairvoyance. I have no complex statistical models. What I can forecast is the intention and level of interest in manipulating the stock market. The only thing I can say with respect to how successful the efforts will be is that these kinds of efforts have worked very well up to this point. Never forget that the economy is in the process of rotting from the bottom up. In time, the whole system will collapse as a result. I have no way to say on what day or in what hour that will be.

The good news now being released is of amazing progress in trade talks with Mexico. It is a few days earlier than I expected. It frankly is not all that profound. Rest assured, there is more to come.

What is the business of every country in the world today? It is to enhance the wellbeing of each country’s most wealth citizens. Actually folks above a certain income level may be citizens of one given country or another but they have a global presence and interests which know no national boundaries.

I have explained previously that our world is a huge game of dominance and subservience. Does that sound awful? Of course it does and that is why people indulge in fantasy. Fantasy, euphemisms and wishing however don’t make it anything other than what it is. Who benefits from big government? It is the few who are currently winning in the game of dominance and subservience. Is there a conspiracy in operation. No, there doesn’t have to be. People with common interests work together naturally.

What do the world’s richest citizens want from government? They want high asset prices. They want wealth and income independently of any output. Don’t misunderstand, output is fine but income without it is even better. Actually that is the same thing the poor, the middle class and everyone else wants. The rich have the money and the political power to get what they want out of government. So, for the immediate future all of the worlds resources are going to be focused on elevating the U.S. stock market.

Please notice. Even with all of the criticism Donald Trump gets from the media and the democrats, there is no push back at all on his ballooned up deficit spending, huge tax cuts for corporations and inflation creating tariffs. Wars for profit are never mentioned either. When it comes to transferring wealth and income from the bottom of the food chain to the top, Democrats, Republicans, media and all other world leaders are on the same page., The argument is over technique and precisely who gets the spoils. But, all of the above agree on moving wealth and income from the bottom of the food chain to the top.

The Truth About Presidents

How much difference does it make if the president of the United States has been a whoremonger for most of his life? In my opinion it would make a world of difference except that with presidents, a thing like whore mongering is perfectly normal. The president of the United States is the person who is the current winner of life’s ongoing dominance and subservience competition. Winning at the dominance and subservience game requires certain personality attributes ordinary people don’t have. One of those is a sense of entitlement as in everything in the world is his. He just has to figure out how to get it. Continue reading

Central Planning of the United States of America

Stimulus is central economic planning. QE was central economic planning. Saving the country with emergency bailouts is central economic planning. Healthcare is centrally planned. When the economy failed in 2008 more central economic planning was ushered in.

So what does central economic planning consist of. We now have centrally planned stock prices. Since 2008 what has central economic planning consisted of? Knock the bark off the plan and look at raw reality. The stimulus beginning in 2008 has consisted of elevating stock prices and that is it.

Central economic planning is mandated in the Full Employment Act of 1978. What do we know about central economic planning? It destroys wealth and income of most everyone while boosting the wealth and income of the politically powerful. If there is an exception in all of recorded history, tell me. I can’t find one. Does anyone mind? Hardly a soul.

I overheard a conservative talk show host recently ranting about the greatness of the United States. He was chastising others who believe otherwise. This conversation was going on while 100% of bills on which congress votes are there expressly to rig one market or another or to transfer wealth and income. My question to the talk show host would be, what is so great about that procedure? What makes a country great or less than great is how the citizens spend their time and energy. What central planning is always is using the government as a means of bypassing the free market system for personal gain. Once that approach becomes a national standard, there is no more free market.

Americans are good with central economic planning. No matter how bad things get, they always want more of it. There are a handful of us out here who would prefer to reverse the situation and start moving back to the free market standard. Our number is statistically insignificant. Out of all of the conservative icons in the country, not one has suggested repealing a single law or closing even one government agency. Americans really do want big government and that is what we have. Donald Trump might very well turn out the be the most prolific central planner of all presidents up to this point. Any hopes that he would turn out to be a free market guy have gone out the window.

There seems to be a silent consensus that the current recovery which has been the result of a centrally planned bull market in stocks about over. Some might naively suggest that when the economy collapses Americans will have learned their lesson and demand a free market system. That won’t happen. Instead they will cry loudly for more central economic planning. Their elected reps and leaders will oblige them by creating more stimulus plans which will further impoverish ordinary people.

The important thing to remember is that since Americans really do want a centrally planned economy, there really isn’t much that can prevent masses of increases in poverty and misery. To turn the country around folks have to want something different. How do I know what people want? I just watch what people do. What a person does is indicative of a person’s deepest beliefs. If there were conservatives anywhere in the population there would be ongoing conservative initiatives and there is not one in the entire world.

Alternatives to Legalization

There are a at least two reasons why it would be good to legalize marijuana all across the country. The number one reason is that legalization would take away the profit margin that makes the illegal drug trade attractive.  The second is that no law is enforceable if not even a plurality of the population is offended by the behavior a law is designed to prohibit. The cost of efforts at enforcement is enormous and people disobey the law anyway.

Does cannabis have medical uses? Probably it does. That is an additional reason.

What is gained by having a completely ineffective law on the books as it can serve as a social statement for people who want to be seen on the right side of the issue. Laws which serve only as social statements are extremely expensive to maintain just for that one advantage.

All of that being said, that still does not mean that outright sudden legalization is a good idea. Why? It depends upon the terms of the legalization. There are cannabis users who just want it legal right now no matter what the cost. Deferred gratification is a foreign concept that is not even understood by today’s youth and most elders as well. When passing or repealing a law, it is best to ask the question, “and then?” before making the change.

The important question in legalizing marijuana is, what kind of bureaucracy is going to be born and maintained for the next several centuries? Is it legalized so as to serve as a source of tax revenue? Are laws going to be passed so that profits on the industry only go to the top of the food chain? The way legalization is occurring state by state is not a good deal and may end up restricting freedom more than any misguided statutes.

There are approaches other than outright legalization which would prevent the growth of a huge bureaucracy. Texas is not a friendly cannabis state. Suppose people across the state petitioned their city and county governments to pass resolutions directing local law enforcement agencies to prioritize enforcement efforts. Enforcing cannabis laws could be put so low on the list that the law still served as social statement for folks who just want to be seen as opposing usage. But, law enforcement could focus on more serious violations of other laws.

The solution that would serve recreational users the most would be to make possession punishable with a $49.99 fine and still leave cannabis as illegal. Most cannabis charges are added on to other crimes like shoplifting or disturbing the peace. With only a small fine as punishment, the expense of prosecution would be limited and government could still benefit from the revenue generated. It is rare that anyone is charged for possessing marijuana only.

Anytime a law is passed or repealed, it is not done for the benefit of the overall population. Laws are more likely to be passed to create feeding frenzies by those who will benefit by the regulations or the income opportunities created. Governments are interested in sources of tax revenue. The way cannabis is being legalized now a high price to be paid for all products is guaranteed. This is not by accident. Where profit is concerned, all who have political power are accommodated first.  Make regulation stiff enough and new opportunities for organized crime are created.

Government is defined in people’s minds as a benevolent entity working tirelessly to make everyone’s life better. In reality it is a place to go to exploit problems and make profits by getting self serving laws passed.  Any time laws are passed, changed or repealed, there is a change in the bureaucratic structure. Just because people get what they want in the immediate time frame does not guarantee they will be better off over time.

The Phantom Bear Market

Everyday we all read articles pointing to statistical anomalies that look like dark ominous storm clouds overhanging the economy and the stock market. It is commonly acknowledged that GDP, employment numbers and all government statistics can be whatever they need to be on a given day. Accounting laws are not being enforced, so earnings reports are assumed to be quite flexible. The statistics we are likely to see are the ones needed to shape public opinion. Every news story has an agenda which is normally to shape public opinion. Continue reading
