Pass a law that elected officials take drug tests. The results would not ban one from holding office. Instead, the results would be published so that the public could view the results. A law like this would end the control organized crime has over congress and the president.
Establish a citizen’s jury to determine whether each new law passed is or is not constitutional. The jury would also determine whether or not a law was in the public interest. As it is, any law passed is deemed constitutional until it is challenged in court. The supreme court, although deemed otherwise, is a political institution. The justices are politicians. In our republic, the jury system is the only democratic institution that works as intended. The jury would be large, at least 100 jurors. They would have to be highly paid.
Add to the tax code a way to tax the kind of internet activity engaged in by entities seeking to hack into networks and put others at risk. Such efforts constitute negative externalities Using taxes as a means of dissuading negative externalities is a legitimate method of discouraging practices that harm society.
No country can survive long term when the news media is concentrated in such a few outlets. A law needs to be passed stating that a corporate news outlet cannot be a subsidiary of another corporation and one media company cannot merge with another.
