This is not criticism of the goals of people in the LGBT movement. It really is advice and nothing more. It is human nature for all of us to try and elevate the perception others have of us. I have no way of knowing how and why certain people have different attributes. I am not foolish enough to proclaim that I know anything at all as to why one person turns out one way and someone else turns out another.
I debunk economic theories one after another, just by not assuming certain things are true. What is important is that LGBT people are here right now walking the earth. Trying to better their situation is what all people do. Who is comfortable denying someone else the opportunity to do what all others do freely?
Since the kind of work I do has no capacity to generate an income, I have no need to come up with a plausible explanation and sell it to the public. In terms of honesty, I consider myself about average in that respect. Unfortunately, the truth doesn’t sell. On balance truth has a negative value in the market place. That means people are more prone to pay to avoid hearing it. I don’t avoid doing what I thoroughly enjoy doing just because I am not being paid. At least it is not an expensive non paying avocation. Others who are retired spend their time and money doing things like playing golf, restoring old cars or fishing. I don’t do those things. I do this instead. The fact that I don’t have to make a living at it is a blessing all by itself.
Natural law imposes certain headwinds that work against people who are trying to improve their lives. One of these is the futility of trying to make positive changes based on changing other people. As far as I can tell there has never been a case in history where a collective effort to change other people has provided a positive outcome. Perhaps other people should change and that would be good for them as well as you. That can be true but unfortunately it is a technique that is guaranteed to fail.
Another problem is that human beings are defined by those who see them and not according to how folks who are being seen. That is not going to change. Nature does change but it takes thousands of years. This doesn’t mean your motives are wrong. It does mean that people are not going to change just because you insist they do. Then there is the practice of creating unwritten laws. There is no statute that requires others to address you with chosen pronouns. However, there is an emerging unwritten law that these pronouns be used. The punishment for violating an unwritten law is more severe than than violating a statute of the same magnitude. What you are doing here is forcing others to accept you. Will they? No they won’t. They only comply with the unwritten law by complying with your wishes. If they hated you before, they will hate you even more when you force artificial respect out of them. What they previously said about you to your face they will be saying behind your back. You deny people the right to look at you and respond according to how you come across to them and you are doing to them something worse than what they are doing to you.
LGBT people are just one group of people who are not universally accept by society. Lots of people belong those kinds of groups. The LGBT’s are highly visible but there are many others which go unnoticed. Myself, I am a lifelong misfit. I don’t know if I was born this way or not. As a child, I did not believe in Santa Clause for even a minute. I did not play games or pretend. Never in my life have I ever been able to role play, Nor am I adept at “go along to get along.” Most of my life I wasted trying to fit in. I honestly feel LGBT people face stronger headwinds than I faced as a misfit. The point is there are people who can relate to the headwinds others face. Those are folks who have faced headwinds themselves, some lesser or greater. There are lots of them. You are not alone even though you feel alone.
Another good question is, what exactly is it that you are trying to fit into? Too often fitting in comes down to needing the approval of other people. It is a lot easier to give up the need for approval than it is to change other people or to become what others would have you
be instead of what you are.
In the end, if what you want something to happen now depends on human nature changing, it is not going to happen.
