In 1893, the United States Marines invaded Hawaii and overthrew the Monarchy.  Hawaii was annexed by the United States in 1898.

On January 21, 1993 President Bill Clinton signed Public Law 103-150 which is a public apology for overthrowing the Hawaiian government in 1893.
