You should actually be much better off than you are. Your Republican role models have been stealing your productivity bonus for the last 30 years. Just by flooding the economy with money your beloveds have kept prices high on everything you buy. Plus they started a money war between savers and speculators. You are a saver so you lose. The speculators, Wall Street, win because they are clients of your role models.
