Warren Buffet points out today that the upper 1% make 19% of the country’s income but pay 49% of taxes. This is only true if you don’t count the taxes the poor actually pay.
The poor actually pay a big portion of the 49% the rich write a check for. Government policy keeps corporate profit margins astronomically high. The poor pay much higher prices for all they buy than they would in a free market setting. Profits made by controlling government and rigging markets are actually a stealth tax that corporations levy on the rest of us.
Taxes paid by the upper 1% are a small burden on them given the fact that they are privileged to use government as a means to exploit all others.
