I frequently refer to The Milgram experiment of the 1960s as proof of how ordinary people are prone to trust and follow authority. The Burning Platform site clearly explains how the results of this study apply perfectly to the situation we face in the world today. My own contention is that all of public life is driven by instinctive behaviors, although sentient thought is always assumed. One of those instinctive propensities is expertly explained in the article in the link below. I hope you will read it. It explains a lot.
I think we are at the point that either people learn to stand up and defy authority or die. One would hope that’d be a potent motivator.
I hope you are right. However, as far as I know, in all of history, that has never happened. Human nature tells us that they will look for another authority to submit to.
Well hopefully that authority will be the leadership of a legitimate, just rebellion. Certainly there are way more followers than leaders but we had had some righteous rebellions through the centuries, including the one that created the USA. True it was far from perfect and like most rebellions it was oligarchical in nature but I’ll still take Washington, Madison & Hamilton over King George.
I agree. If they actually do that, it will be the first time in history it has turned out that way.
